The training programme on the Resolution of occlusion problems with the aid of a face-bow and dental articulator was conducted on November 24, 2012, at MEDICO by NATRODENT. It was comprised of the following three parts:
- lecture presenting to doctors, inter alia, the principles of articulation, and the comparison of various systems of articulation and the methods for registration of patients’ hinge axis movements; also discussed were the analogical and digital systems of registration as well as occlusive problems encountered in every-day practice of dentists and dental technicians, and the methods for their elimination.
- the clinical part of the training - the doctors were demonstrated with graphic registration of the cranio-maxillofacial relation by means of a face-bow, of Benett angles, and of the inclination of articular track. Every participant had an opportunity to perform the Sliding guide - i.e. to “de-programme” patient’s muscles and to register Central Relation and Central Occlusion.
- the laboratory part - the doctors were familiarised with:
- a method for monitoring plaster casts based on individual registrations in articulator and on average parameters
- analysis of the first contacts and elimination thereof on plaster casts
After a discussion that followed, the participation certificates were awarded.
CAD/CAM - computer designing of prosthetic works, enabling their direct fabrication by digitally operated milling machine. Computer design (CAD) requires a template in the form of a plaster cast on which the virtual model of the work will be based. The casts are scanned and displayed in a graphic form on a computer screen. Here the work is planned and performed.
Working with an intra-oral scanner is yet another step into the future. It does not require dental impressions to be taken, which is often uncomfortable for the patients. It also reduces the time spent on a dentist’s chair. A digital impression is sent to the prosthodontics lab, where it will be transformed into a ready-to-use prosthetic work.

It is the most technically advanced digital equipment for measuring and diagnosing dysfunctions of temporomandibular joint available in our dental surgery. We are one of the first surgeries in Poland that have decided to buy this innovative equipment. It allows for fast diagnosing of a cause of dysfunction and fast action aimed at eliminating the cause. It also enables making prosthetic restorations (dentures, crowns, bridges) tailored to individual needs of every patient. The procedure consists in making simple movements of jaws - the equipment determines the perfect occlusion, which ensures that the patient will not feel the false teeth.
